Summer Lip Balm from Jack Black - Intense Therapy Shea Butter with SPF 25

I can't even recall where I read about the Jack Black Intense Therapy Shea Butter with SPF 25. Possibly a blog, a website, a magazine... I often read about products before quickly scrambling to place an order; typical beauty hoarder! And having heard so many horrific things about Carmex and Vaseline lately, I decided to invest in some new lip balms from Escentual.

This was the first lipbalm added to my basket, along with the famous Nuxe RĂªve de Miel Honey Lip Balm and Bioderma's Atoderm Moisturising Stick for Damaged and Dehydrated Lips. Actually aimed at men, this lip balm from Jack Black drew me in because of the SPF and that it helps protect against windburn, the sun and other extreme temperatures. My lips are super sensitive to change, so I was excited to test it out.

It is a clear, sort of non-glossy but thick balm. (I must take and upload a photo of the actual product! Naughty blogger...). Being a 'man's product' it doesn't have any real shine or colour to it. It does feel a little bit like vaseline on my lips, although stickier and a lot more nourishing. The scent is subtle and not overpowering which is perfect for me; I hate those fake cherry and mint lip balms.

The moisturising effects are great, especially because it contains shea butter which is known for it's moisturisation properties. It has also helped to protect my lips from getting burnt because as a fair skinned lady, I have to be careful in the sun. It's not the cheapest of lip balms at £7.25 a tube, but I am impressed with the ingredients and results.

I am really looking forward to putting it to the test in winter, especially as my degree may involve some outside work and lectures. Plus, I love being outdoors. So far, I am really happy with my switch and have quickly thrown my beloved Carmex into a draw, replacing it with Jack Black! It's also lovely to smother on overnight as a deep treatment - I always wake up with super soft lips.
