My Top 5 Products for Keratosis Pilaris or Chicken Skin

I have suffered from Keratosis Pilaris or Chicken Skin (those pesky red little bumps) on the backs of my arms since I can first remember. It doesn't particularly irritate me, but doesn't look very nice. Over the last few years, I have tried so many products, but have finally managed to narrow it down to five things which help reduce it and keep it at bay. I wanted to share these five products with you, although please remember that everyone's skin is different so although these work for me, they may not work for you.

Some tips I have found for helping Keratosis Pilaris or Chicken Skin is to moisturise twice a day, exfoliate with a very good, scrubby exfoliator every other day and that the sun helps, although the sun is bad for your skin. (It almost cleared up when I was in Australia!).

One - Zerobase Emollient Cream
I get this cream on prescription from the Dr as I suffer from terribly dry skin, but you can buy it online and from pharmacies for around £10 for 500g. I use this every morning after I have showered and cover my whole body, head to toe in this stuff. It isn't the most luxurious, but it is great at locking in the moisture.

Two - A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cream
At £10.50 for 200ml, this isn't the cheapest moisturiser, but it is so hydrating and doesn't leave any greasy residue. It contains Rhealba® Oat extract which helps to soothe irritated skin alongside Omega 6 fatty acids and vitamin B3. I alternate this each evening before I go to bed so it can work its magic overnight. In the morning, my arms are super smooth, nourished and moisturised.

Three - Mario Badescu Papaya Body Lotion
This body lotion I use on alternate nights to the A-Derma offering. At £9.95 for a measly 177ml, it is very expensive, especially as a full time student, so I limit it to use on my arms only. This lotion contains alpha hydroxy acids which help to gently exfoliate the skin and again, it works wonders overnight. I wouldn't say this is overly hydrating and I definitely couldn't use it alone as my skin would still be dry, but the exfoliating effect works really well and helps to keep that pesky chicken skin at bay,

Four - Soap and Glory The Scrub of Your Life
This is a decently priced exfoliator (£7 for 200ml) which really does the trick. It's gritty enough to exfoliate, but not too harsh that it irritates your skin. It has helped wonders with that chicken skin and even using it once a day on the backs of my arms has not dried out my skin or left it irritated.

Five - Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream
This has to be my HG body exfoliator, but the price, now I'm not in full time employment, is hard for me to warrant! At £24 for 250ml, this is definitely a luxury product in my bathroom and it is limited to use once a week. I am hoping the day I run out of this will never come!

If you suffer from KP or chicken skin, I would love to hear what products have worked for you.
