My Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi* arrived just in time for spring from BzzAgent who kindly sent it me for free to test out. Don't worry, as always, my opinion is my own and I am under no obligation to leave a positive review!

The Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi is a rotating, battery operated device that quickly and gently buffs away hard skin, leaving your feet silky soft. As you can see from the photo, it contains a hard, abrasive almost pumice stone like attachment which spins around at a high speed to buff away dead and dry skin. It runs on 4 x AA batteries which are provided with the Express Pedi.

I literally have the worst looking feet ever. When I take a trip to the Podiatrist (usually before summer or a wedding etc to get my feet back on track), they tell me that they've never seen someone so young with such bad, dry skin - disgusting!

As you can see from the first photo, I literally could not wait to rip open the packaging and try it out, so I had to pin it back together to take some photos! I've been wanting to try one of these for so long, but didn't want to fork out the hefty price in case my feet were too bad for the machine to cope with! When starting it up, it is quite loud and noisy, although this doesn't bother me too much and isn't major. Initially, there were bits of skin flying off everywhere (too much information!!), and there was a white, powdery dust gathering (the dead and dry skin). I had to make sure I kept my head well away from the machine as there was a dust cloud forming around my foot! (YUCK!) Pressure wise, I couldn't press very hard otherwise the machine would start rumbling and sounded like it was going to cut out which was a shame. Personally, I don't think the batteries are quite strong enough to run the machine and think it would have been better with a battery pack allowing you to put a lot more pressure on your foot, therefore being able to remove more dead skin - especially when your feet look as bad as mine!

After one use, I was really surprised. My feet did not look as well manicured and pampered as they would have after visiting a Podiatrist, but they certainly looked better than after using various foot files and pumice stones that I own. My heels still needed some more buffing and I am guessing that it will take a good few uses of the Velvet Smooth Express Pedi before my feet look amazing, but in comparison to using a manual buffer, it was such less effort and a lot more pleasant to use; the results were also better first time round.

With regards to the Velvet Smooth Intense Serum, I didn't however find this very intense. It was very runny and definitely replicated a serum, not a thick moisturising cream. However, it dried super quickly on my feet and actually left them really soft - it seemed to really penetrate deeply because it was a serum and stopped the dry skin building up again too quickly.

Overall, I am really pleased with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi, although I am still not sure I would pay £39.99 for one - it seems a little extortionate for a plastic holder and pumice stone that rotates! The replacement heads are also quite expensive at around £12.99 for two and then you have to take into consideration the batteries, as I don't think these will be lasting long. My mum, believe it or not, uses a fine sandpaper on her feet and it seems to do pretty much the same thing, although it obviously not as elegant, nice to use and requires a lot of energy and arm stamina!  

At the moment, BzzAgent have released a code Velvet25 to enable people to receive 25% off the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi. On Amazon it is already reduced down to £28.79 (although I am unsure how long this will last for), so with 25% off, you can pick one up for £21.60 which I think is a lot more cost effective.
