Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky Smoother* is a collection of hair products, shampoo, conditioner and treatment for mid-long hair with split ends. It contains vanilla milk and papaya which are designed to soften and revitalise your hair. They do not contain any parabens which I think is great.

I was really excited to receive the Ultimate Blends to try as I'm always on the lookout for new shampoo and conditioner duos. My hair was in a terrible condition from some prescription medication I was taking and I had to have around 4" cut off last week which was heart wrenching. I've stopped taking the medication now (with my Dr's authority) because the side effects were outweighing the actual effects!

The thing that excites me the most about this new range from Garnier is the amazing smell - they smell extremely luxury, not too overpowering and the scent gently leaves your hair smelling beautiful for the day. The shampoo, I found, was very runny and an awful lot poured out of the hole; it was hard to control it coming out and I always ended up with way too much product. The shampoo lathers well and leaves my hair and scalp feeling clean, but still nourished.

The conditioner was just okay. It made my hair tangle free and I was easily able to comb it afterwards, but after blowdrying, my hair was still parched, especially at the ends. My split ends were still extremely visible and it didn't help to seal or nourish them. To me, this conditioner would be better suited to someone with normal hair, rather than dry and damaged. I do however, understand that no products will be able to get rid of already there split ends and that the only way to remove them, is to have them cut off.

The one minute polishing scrub was the most intriguing which is designed to polish the hair to smooth split ends. To me, it's a little bit gimmicky and feels like a facial exfoliator, although a little bit runnier. I'm not sure how smoothing it through your hair can really help to 'exfoliate' any split ends. 

Again, this smells amazing and is a lot more nourishing than the conditioner. I think I would rather use the shampoo and the treatment combined and not really worry with the conditioner; it's not rich enough for my super dry hair. To me, the richness of this is more like a conditioner and less of a treatment, although I'm not sure how nourishing it really is supposed to be.

Overall, I've really enjoyed using these products, especially for the smell. But the actual conditioning properties of the products combined is not nourishing enough for my dry, damaged hair which is a real shame. I also did not notice any difference in my split ends; after having an inch taken off, six weeks later, I still had to have another 4" cut off because my split ends got progressively worse. Possibly, when my hair is in a better condition, I might return to these products, but for now, I will stick to my current regime.
