After reading some great reviews about the Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup I decided to pick up a tube. I have had this sat around in my draw for around 4 months now - I keep pulling it out and giving it another go, but unfortunately, I just don't think it is for me... Considering the price (£29, Boots), I couldn't help feeling a little deflated and upset that it didn't work for me, however, I have managed to find another use for it so it doesn't go to waste.
I bought this as I wanted a lightweight product that would leave me with dewy skin during the summer months. I opted for the Double Wear All-Day Glow because it is part of the Double Wear collection, so expected it to last the whole day on my dry skin. As a pale skinned girl, I chose Intensity 1 - in MAC I am an NC15/20.
Upon application, the product didn't blend in amazingly, it seemed to sit on my skin and in my pores and fine lines; I had to really buff it into my skin with my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Brush. After the blending, my skin looked lovely, dewy, it had a real glow and my imperfections were invisible but my skin still looked natural, unlike the full coverage Double Wear.
After around 4 - 5 hours of wear, I looked in the mirror and my skin looked terrible. All-Day Glow BB had sat in all my fine lines and pores and had accentuated any dry areas of skin, especially around my mouth. My skin looked patchy and awful for a product that cost £29. Since then, I have tried to use the product with various powders to finish, but my skin still looks patchy only a few hours later.
In order to use the product up, I have come across another use for it and have been using it as a primer underneath other lightweight foundations. For some reason, this seems to work and doesn't go patchy. It also helps to give my skin a nice dewy boost before applying my foundation and helps to lock in some moisture. However, I cannot say I will be repurchasing it as a primer as I really do not feel it is worth the £29 price tag, plus recently, I have fell back in love with Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer which I am once again obsessed with!
