MAC Strobe Cream | MAC | £12.50
The Actual Product
Blended in, you can see the glow and radiance it gives my hand
Okay, so when I first saw this, I wasn't sure what exactly it was and how it would fit into my routine, but still went ahead and purchased it anyway! MAC say 'de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin'.
I've been using this for sometime now, as I wanted to trial it before I gave a review. Yes, it feels lovely to use, it doesn't break me out and it does give my skin a boost of radiance, but to be honest, I'm not sure whether I would repurchase. Once I've let it sink in, putting my foundation on over the top just eradicates the lovely glow it gives my skin.
I have, however, found another use for it and that's to mix it in with my Estee Lauder Double Wear, or apply my double wear on top of the strobe cream whilst it's still wet on my skin. This makes my double wear sit a lot more naturally on my skin and the double wear doesn't seem to dry to such a taught, matte finish, it leaves more of a natural glow to my skin.
I've also found that this works well patted onto the skin after foundation to add a glow to skin. Although really, I have so many highlighters, I wouldn't repurchase it just for this.
Since using the product, I haven't noticed that my skin has been de-snoozed, de-stressed, anymore moisturised than normal nor does my tired skin look any brighter. I think this would better suit someone who only wore a light coverage foundation, or who didn't wear foundation at all and wanted an extra boost and added glow to their skin.

I used to love strobe cream back in the day, blended under a light foundation! It's a shame this didn't work out for you, but it's reminded me that I need to make a repurchase :) x

Glad I could help! : ) Laura x
DeleteI think this is a product I wouldn't need in my make up routine. It seems good as in extra though.

Thank you xx
DeleteThanks for the honest review - I feel the same about Benefit Highbeam as you seem to about this - it's ok but nothing that special! Great blog - love from a new follower xx

Thanks, Kitty. Yes, I'm glad I didn't purchase the full size, I would have been disappointed. x
DeleteLove how honest your review is :)
ReplyDeleteI don't wear foundation, only concealer, so maybe this would work for me in adding extra luminosity to my skin!
Thank you, I try to give my honest opinion : ) Yes, I think someone who wore minimal makeup, it would work well on. I like a full coverage foundation so you can't really see the difference it makes to my skin. xx
DeleteThat's a really helpful review, thanks dear!x

Thanks! And no problem : ) x
DeleteGreat review! Maybe it's suited best for these lazy days with minimal make up?

Yes, I think that is the case. My foundation just stops my skin from looking any different. Laura x
DeleteAgh this looks so gorgeous. I have the Revlon Skin Lights which looks very similar to this, but I'd still want to try the MAC version as it looks very pretty xx

Yes, I think this is very similar to skin lights, although because it's the cream, I think the consistency is a little thicker than skin lights and more hydrating. Laura x
DeleteGreat review! I really want to try this, I like how you said it makes foundation look more natural.

My double wear looks a lot better on my skin when I use this, more natural and less cakey. Laura x
