Hydraluron Moisture Booster From Indeed Labs - A four week review

Hydraluron tube and box

Hydraluron Moisture Booster From Indeed Labs is a hydration serum containing hyaluronic acid that can attract 1000 times its weight in water and is supposedly able to increase the hydration levels in your skin.

Hydraluron was on offer at Boots for £16.66, so with a bit of hesitation, I added it to my basket along with a few other necessities and hit the pay button. Everyone raves about this product, with only a few people leaving reviews saying they were disappointed. I really wanted to put the product to the test, over a four week period to let you guys and girls know what I think. Currently, my skin is dry, dehydrated and generally lacking moisture. I can put a moisturiser on and within an hour, my skin feels tight and dry again.

Day One - Wednesday 29th January

I've collected my package from Boots. The box is very large and it almost appears that you would expect the tube inside to be quite substantial, but it was a very small, 30 ml tube.

Opening up the tube, it was sealed with a silver tamper-proof foil. Squeezing out a bit onto my finger, I was surprised to see that Hydraluron was completely clear, with a gel like consistency. Very similar to Bonjela that babies use for teething! I'm not sure what I quite expected.

Rubbing a small, pea sized amount into my skin, a little went a long way. After paying £16.66 for a small tube, this pleased me! I left it to sink into my skin before putting on my moisturiser. It dried on my skin very quickly, and as it dried, it seems to feel like it was tightening my skin and left it feeling a little bit dry and unnourished - the complete opposite of what it's supposed to do, so I was a little bit concerned.

I applied my Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief onto my skin which I've recently upgraded to because of my terrible, dry and dehydrated winter skin. The moisture surge did seem to sink in more easily after applying it, but my skin still felt a little bit taught, so I finished with another layer of moisturised, this time my Botanics All Bright Night Cream. After this, I was satisfied that my skin felt hydrated.

After today, I feel a little bit baffled about Hydraluron and not sure what to make of it.

After One Week - Wednesday 5th February

After reading a few blogs, I decided to start applying Hydraluron in the morning and only applied it at night during the first day. I read that it was more beneficial during the day and that people claimed it worked better at keeping their skin nourished and hydrated, especially in offices where there's air con and/or central heating.

I do think my skin looks and feels more plump and firm - it looks smoother on my cheeks and they look more round (and no, I hope it's not the extra chocolates I've been eating!).

After applying my Origins Overnight Mask, I felt it took a lot longer to sink into my skin as normally, it's absorbed pretty quickly and my skin can be left feeling dry again by the morning. After applying it one evening, my skin did feel a lot more nourished than it usually does. Could it be the Hydraluron? Maybe. Although I'm still not convinced!

After Two Weeks - Wednesday 12th February

This week, my skin is certainly looking and feeling so much more hydrated and I can't put it down to anything than the Hydraluron. Even sitting here now feeling my skin, after moisturising it first thing this morning (it's now 7pm), it still feels well moisturised and hydrated, that horrible parched and tight feeling has completely gone. The fine lines on my forehead seem to have reduced (they get a lot worse when my skin is dehydrated) and my skin is generally looking in a better condition.

After Three Weeks - Wednesday 19th February

After three weeks, my skin is still looking and feeling more hydrated and products don't seem to completely evaporate into my skin now within minutes, leaving me thinking that my skin is more hydrated. In the mornings, I've also managed to cut down on how much moisturiser I apply. The weather has been a lot milder though, so I can't be 100% sure whether this has also had a positive impact on my skin.

After Four Weeks - Wednesday 26th February

My skin is still feeling and looking more hydrated - those fine lines on my forehead have been reduced and aren't as prominent. This morning when I woke up, my skin didn't even really feel like it needed moisturising! But after a shower and a cleanse, it felt very dry and taught again (I don't think anything will rid that feeling after using water) and ready for some more Hydraluron and moisturiser. My skin is certainly not drinking up the moisture as quickly as before and that parched feeling I got within hours of applying moisturiser has disappeared.

At the end of the four weeks, I still have over 1/2 a tube left, so it's proving to be really good value.

My overall thoughts of Hydraluron Moisture Booster are that it has helped to increase the hydration levels in my dry and dehydrated skin, it has left it feeling more plump and my fine lines seem to have reduced slightly, thanks to the added moisture. Yesterday, I completely forgot to apply my Hydraluron and by lunch time, my foundation was sitting quite badly in my fine lines, especially around my mouth and my forehead looked very dry. I hadn't done anything differently apart from not apply my Hydraluron; to me, this was real proof that it was doing something and because of this, I will definitely continue using it and purchasing it.

What are your thoughts on Hydraluron? Have you tried it or is it on your wishlist?
