Maybelline Colour Show Brocades Nail Polish - 220 Knitted Gold

Maybelline Colour Show Brocades Nail Polish | 220 Knitted Gold | £3.99

I saw these on someone elses blog and absolutely loved the colours and the shimmer - I'm a sucker for anything shiny! I picked two of these and a colour tattoo eyeshadow up on 3 for 2 from Boots, although I can't find these on the Boots website.

I really wanted to gold, but they were sold out, so opted for the Knitted Gold instead. The base is a metallic two tone gold, with huge bits of pink glitter. It very much reminds me of the colour of silky pink ballet shoes. After two coats, the colour is intense and the nail is completely covered; I'm very impressed with how they glide onto my nails.

Chipping is horrendous! I painted them on my lunch at work and by 3pm, they had already chipped around the edges. By the evening, half of the polish had come off numerous nails. I've tried it again with my Seche Vite top coat, but it's still not looking good. The large chunks of glitter at the ends of my nails almost seems to lift and it gets caught on anything, causing it to chip. This is a real disappointment, as the colours are lovely. Chipping isn't as noticeable on this lighter colour, but on the dark grey/black that I got, it looks terrible.

  2. Wow this is so lovely and glittery for the New Year! Very party like! I have my nails painted glittery, I'd recommend a nail polish from topshop called "Tingle". It's a glittery gold and if you apply 2 coats you have a very pretty rose gold glitter.

  3. Yes, it take forever to remove! Sometimes with the Seche Vite top coat, you can peel it off - although this probably isn't very good for my nails!!

Beth - thanks for the recommendation, I'll have a look at it next time I'm in Topshop. :-)

  4. Yeah, I should really buy the Seche Vite top coat, lots of youtubers and bloggers have raved about it in the past! I have the Sally Hansen nail polish top coat which is good too, and I've just tried it and you can peel the nail polish off.

    You're welcome.

    1. The top coat is good, but I'm not sure it's my HG top coat, I've still yet to find it. Seche Vite does shrink a lot of polishes on my nails which is a little annoying, but it does stop them from chipping, but instead, they just peel off!!
